How To Flash Custom Fonts, Icons, Gameboot, Volume Bars, Battery Icons Tutorial!

THIS CAN DAMAGE YOUR PSP AND IN SOME CASES BRICK PERMANENTLY I RECOMMEND ONLY USING THIS WITH CUSTOM FIRMWARE

WARNING: Flashing a bootsound on on 3.02 OE/3.03 OE on ANY revision will disable the ability to play PSX games! To avoid this, download the 3.02 OE popstation loader and put it in ms0:/seplugins/. DO NOT ENABLE IT UNTIL AFTER FLASHING YOUR BOOTSOUND! =) DIVERPAULO

1.Â* Â*Hard boot your PSP by holding up the POWER button until the unit turns off. Press the power button up again and hold the R button.
2.Â* Â*You should now reach a blue screen called the Recovery Menu. Now go to Advanced>Toggle USB (flash0). YOU WILL NEED YOUR USB CABLE PLUGGED IN
3.Â* Â*Now a pop-up should come up on your PC. If not go to My Computer>Removable Disc (that represents your PSP). Access the files in the Explorer.
4.Â* Â*Now you should have 6 folders come up in the Explorer (data, dic, font,kd,kn,vsh) Select all of the folders and copy and paste them into a folder on your PC called ‘Flash0 Backup’
5.Â* Â*To Install a font double click the ‘font’ folder and you may either have one font file (ltn0.pgf) or a set of files. Either way copy and paste the files into the ‘font’ folder and overwrite the ones already there. On your PSP press back and then exit and your PSP should boot with the new font.
6.Â* Â*To Install a gameboot double click the ‘VSH’ folder and then ‘resource’ now find your file called ‘gameboot.pmf’ that you have acquire from a site and copy it into VSH/resource it will ask you to overwrite click yes. Now press back and then exit on your PSP and your PSP will boot up. Open a homebrew or ISO and your gameboot should have changed.
7.Â* Â*To Install Custom Icons either use the Topmenu generator or acquire a pre-made topmenu_plugin.rco. Copy your topmenu_plugin.rco and paste it into VSH/resource. Then press back and then exit the recovery menu and you should have a new set of PSP icons. THESE DO NOT WORK ON 3.10OE-A or A2
8.Â* Â*To Install a bootsound acquire an opening_plugin.rco and copy and paste it into VSH/resource. If you don't have any opening_plugin.rco either reply or PM me and I will host some that I have! FOR THE BOOTSOUND TO WORK YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE 'SKIP SCE LOGO' disabled in the recovery menu.
9.Â* Â*To Install a theme/wave background take your new 01-12.bmp and paste it into vsh/resource.
10. To install Custom Loading Icons paste a game_plugin.rco into vsh/resource.
11. To install custom battery icons rename your battery file to system_plugin_fg.rco and paste into vsh/resource in flash0. See bottom of topic for some examples.
12. To install custom volume bars copy impose_plugin.rco and paste into vsh/resource in flash0! For impose_plugin.rco's download the pack I have hosted at the bottom of the tutorial!

Submenu Icons Tutorial

1.Â* Download Submenu Icon Injector v3.0

2.Â* Open the archive and extract the root folder to a easy accessible location on you computer, inside the folder open the PSP Submenu Icon Injector.exe.

3.Â* When the program opens browse the ‘plugin file Location’. Select the topmenu_plugin.rco that you want with the correct default or customised XMB icons you wish for.

4.Â* Now go down the list and edit the icons using the browse facility to select the bitmap that you want to replace the default with. Once you have changed all the icons you wish for.

5.Â* Select ‘Inject Topmenu’ and the topmenu_plugin.rco that you selected in ‘plugin file location’ will have submenu icons within it.

6.Â* Flash the edited topmenu_plugin.rco to flash0:/vsh/resource.

And restart your PSP and you should have edited submenu icons.

If you do not wish to flash your PSP you can redirect the gameboot.pmf and fonts to your memory stick. Below is the guide to this.

_________________________________________________

Changing flash paths
You can change the PSP's font path to your memory stick, by doing this you can save space in your Flash0. Please note that if you remove your memory stick and then start your PSP from a hard boot you will not brick your PSP, but instead your PSP will tell you to restore your Flash1 features. To change the PSP's font path:

1. Download the Font Hack application for 1.50.
2. Copy the PSP folder to the root of your memory stick.
3. Copy the Fontmod folder to the root of your memory stick.
4. Run the Font Hack program.
5. Transfer any 1nt0.pgf font file to the fontmod folder in the root of your memory stick to use a custom font.

_________________________________________________

By changing the Gameboot Path you can save space in the Flash0. If there is no Gameboot in the path your specified the PSP will display a white empty screen. Once you change the Gameboot path you can delete the Gameboot from the Flash0. The advantages of having the Gameboot path on the memory stick is that your Gameboot can be of any size that you want. To change the gameboot path:

1. Make a folder on the root of your memory stick called gameboot and inside put a gameboot.pmf of your choice.
2. Download Flash Agent F2 and extract the PSP folder to the root of your memory stick and say Yes to overwrite the other files. DON’T WORRY NO FILES WILL BE DELETED!
3. Go to the GAME menu on your XMB and run the flash agent F1
4. Flash Agent will do all the required checks and an excruciating sound. It will ask you to agree, agree to this. Then go to ‘Firmware Hacks’ then redirect ‘gameboot.pmf to ms0:/gameboot/gameboot.pmf’ Now when ever you change the gameboot.pmf in the ms0:/gameboot folder will change your gameboot without the need of flashing!

FLASH AGENT CAN BE DELETED ONCE THE REDIRECTION IS FINISHED!

_________________________________________________

If something goes wrong and your PSP won’t start. Access the recovery menu and go to advanced>toggle USB(flash0). And I recommend replacing the specific file that you flashed which made the PSP go wrong. If you are not sure paste the whole contents flash0 backup into the root of your flash0.
